What is a Carbon Offset Credit?

In the great tradition of web pages everywhere, we'll borrow a description from Wikipedia. They say that:

Carbon offsetting is the act of mitigating ("offsetting") greenhouse gas emissions. A well-known example is the purchase of carbon offsets to compensate for the greenhouse gas emissions caused by personal air travel.So when your air travel causes release of greenhouse gas emissions, you can offset those by planting a tree. A tree will converting carbon dioxide and water into molecular dioxygen (O2) and plant organic matter, such as carbohydrates (e.g., cellulose). Hence, forests that grow in area or density and thus increase in organic biomass will reduce atmospheric CO2 levels.

At least, that's what Wikipedia says. And we all know that everything in Wikipedia (and the Internet) must be true.

So Carbon Offset Credits are good?

Sure! Why not? We think that they are just as good as a real carbon offset credit. Trust me.
